N.J. county to send prisoners to substance abuse treatment program with grant funds

UNION COUNTY, N.J. — The county has entered into a five-year, $2.6 million contract to send prisoners to Hudson County for substance abuse treatment and reentry program services.

Under the contract, prisoners who are prequalified for the substance abuse and reentry program will be transported to the Hudson County Correctional Center in Kearney.

The program is being funded through the Inpatient Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation grant, a state grant administered through the New Jersey Department of Corrections, according to Soares.
