Ohio community college to receive funding for prison education program

The program provides education and related programming for incarcerated individuals

DAYTON, Ohio — Sinclair Community College announced that they have been selected to receive grant funding to support their prison education program. The grant funding comes from Jobs for the Future and the Ascendium Education Group’s Ready for Pell Initiative.

According to the release, Sinclair will receive up to $120,000 for the program ahead of the restoration of Pell Grant eligibility in 2023. Those who are incarcerated have been prohibited from receiving Pell Grants since 1994.

Sinclair’s Advanced Job Training program provides education and related programming for individuals incarcerated through the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections.
